February is turning into somewhat of an exciting month for Diet Coke. Following in the footsteps of fellow designers Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs has been announced as the new Creative Director of the Diet Coke brand.
The year-long collaboration coincides with the 30th anniversary of the hugely popular soft drink. Also being celebrated this month is the Diet Coke initiated #ShowYourHeart campaign.
The brand aims to utilise social media platforms Twitter and Instagram and invite users to post a heart photo using the hashtag. This in turn triggers a donation from Diet Coke to heart health programs with specific emphasis on raising awareness about women’s heart health.
In my opinion, other brands should strive to repeat this initiative. Diet Coke is the ideal platform to implement a large-scale charity campaign. Would you agree that other companies should be taking a leaf out of their book?
